Well, I have returned from touring the Northwest. Things seem pretty normal around the house although a plant died and the pool seems to've sprung a leak... and the waste basket gave birth to little wastebags around the kitchen... I don't have to work for a few days so in the meantime, I'm just chillin'. … Continue reading Back in L.A.

the road trip
The Road Trip: Nothing much of note that I can remember until we took a small detour from the 5 to Modesto where they make Night Train and Thunderbird. We didn't see the winery but the scenery was a lot like Iowa; red barns, foul stinky air, white farm houses- albeit with the occasional palm tree … Continue reading the road trip
on the road
Here we are in Seattle- the Jet City... the Rain City. Drea and I enjoyed a slumber at the rest area south of Olympia. Now we're here at Erin and Bro's. It's been a really luverly trip so far. I've bought some postcards, am missing everyone and will right more later.
Movie Nite
It's movie night. The flick is Color of Paradise which, when I rented it, the guy asked, "Is that a good idea?" because it's Iranian. Of course, when a Lebanese guy mulled over renting Air Force One or Passenger 57 he said the same thing. Damned Jew (just kidding). I see that Sethly has been … Continue reading Movie Nite
The Sorry State of things.
Over 1.5 million Iraqis have died because of sanctions. 41% were children under five. I'm not saying that two wrongs make a right but I think it's completely insane to call the perpetrators cowards when they gave their lives fighting against their enemy in the only way they could that would get our attention. Norman … Continue reading The Sorry State of things.
Things suck part 2
The media is awful. Cabbies in New York have been pulled from cars and beaten. There've been hate crimes against Muslims here in L.A. They've turned the whole thing into a disaster movie... or an episode of America's Worst Terrorist Attacks. The same footage of thousands dying over and over and over for an entire … Continue reading Things suck part 2
Silent Film Night
I, perhaps surprisingly all things considered, found last night to be a rousing success... one of the high points of the season. So the film was 3 and a half hours long, so some of us (myself included) talked through the whole thing, so more than half the guests up and left to go drink … Continue reading Silent Film Night
too many interests
Because of my unrepentant dilettantism, I've finally hit the limit on interests as I woke up thinking how much I like Henry Fuseli's paintings... now I have to look at the list and am faced with the awkward task of comparatively evaluating things I love and trying to figure out which one is better/ which … Continue reading too many interests
noche de peliculas silenciosas
Last night I saw mi amiga Lili and her new band the Purple Hearts... No one had the heart to let them know that there's already been a fairly well-known band by that name. Just change it to Purple Hearts UK, I say. Then, this morning, I went to CPT to work in the garden. … Continue reading noche de peliculas silenciosas
Fag Tags
Why did kids in junior high decide that having a small tag on the back of your shirt necessitated getting into a fight about your sexual preference. I speak of "fag tags". Remember getting a shirt for your birthday or christmas... your parents face searching yours for signs of gratitude and instead finding barely disguised … Continue reading Fag Tags
